Under the Weather is a multimedia exhibition by Tereza Kalousová and Šimon Chlouba that investigates the notion of “dead time” — a term from computing describing a state when a system is running but performing no productive action (waiting, blocked, inactive). The artists appropriate this technical concept as a metaphor for a human condition on the threshold of exhaustion, when the body slips into a state of paralyzed stillness. This state is not seen as failure, but as a new epistemic in-between: it produces neither results nor hope, yet opens the possibility for another mode of attention — a form of sensitivity that becomes a critical tool for reading reality.

The work reveals a narrow window beyond the logic of performance and the rhythms of technology, where the boundary between what is alive and what is dead emerges. The works of both artists converge at the moment when surrounding time becomes static. Air thickens, and fatigue transforms into the very ground for perceiving the world and its systems. Everyday repetition assumes the force of hypnosis — eyes grow heavy, closing. A rotating ceiling fan seems to carve through suspended time. The duality of future and past quietly dissolves, and visions arise already archived.
